  1. In and of themselves, I can’t imagine “guns on the streets” to be anything more than a tire hazard. I’m pretty sure New York’s public works or sanitation departments would be well equipped to handle them.

    But New York’s problem isn’t quite that simple, is it? New York seems to have more than their share of people wandering their streets who would pick up one of those seemingly lost or abandoned guns and use it to commit a crime. Witness some New Yorker’s fondness for pushing their neighbors in front of oncoming subway trains.

    Those New Yorker’s need to be picked up and stored someplace where they can’t take out their meanness on their neighbors. That’s going to take cops, states attorneys, judges, juries, and corrections people, plus the determination to clean up New York’s real problems.

    And “guns on the streets” ain’t on the list.
