Good Idea!

Here’s an idea: let’s have the same video, but instead of the mother stopping and praying at the side of the pool, she leaves her drowning daughter and runs back in the house to call 911. Then she waits 30 minutes for a trained professional to arrive and retrieve her daughter’s corpse. That’s what they want us to do when facing a violent attacker. [More]

I love it.

  1. The Miami-Dade County, FL 911 center was in the same building where my wife worked in theicounty’s Information Technology Division.

The 911 operators were required to follow a script that had been prepared and vetted to minimize any liability to the County Government, much like is done in many if not most call centers.

On one particularly horrible day, a mother called to report her son lying on the bottom of their pool. Following the script, the operator requested the mother stay on the phone with her while fire rescue was dispatched. While the mother stayed on the phone, her other son saw his brother on the bottom, tried to rescue him, and drowned as well.

The 911 operator had to be sedated at her position and wheeled out of the building on a gurney for her own trip to the hospital.
