    As to your question in the linked Firearms News column:

    I’d say, just about all of them.

    SCOTUS seems to feel that the “term of art,” “The People,” used in the Second Amendment, the preamble to the Constitution, and elsewhere includes those born in the USA, naturalized citizens, and those who have expressed intent to become citizens. Similar wording is in the USC section on “Militia Composition and Classes. So while Jefferson’s language in the Declaration of Independence indicates that an illegal alien has inalienable rights, they don’t necessarily have the right to express them here in the USA.

    Another loose end that SCOTUS coulda, shoulda, but didn’t, sort out in the past because of the Second Amendment’s regrettable status as the icky red headed step child of the Bill of Rights that SCOTUS mostly refused to touch until Emerson, Heller, McDonald, Bruen and hopefully more to come.
