A justice system that on a regular basis releases predators to prey again is what leads to guys like Gary. We need a return to public execution on the courthouse lawn.
We hire professionals and entrust them to do the job we pay them to do. But when the third plumber has cashed your check, yet the toilet still wakes you at “oh dark thirty” with the sound of water trickling, it’s time to learn something about fixing toilets.
We have metal detectors in court houses, and ban the carrying of firearms in them by most folks, not to protect judges, jurors, and the other folks who work there, although they do assist in that purpose. But we started with that practice when ordinary Americans started to realize that “the system” was failing to punish the guilty, and people started to take back the task that the pros could not or would not do.
For all its faults, and there are many, so called “vigilante justice” has one good characteristic that is shares with bad breath. Bad breath is certainly better than no breath at all.
