It is important to note that if you see photos of cartel members in Mexican government custody, the tactical gear worn by their guards often read “MARINAS”, i.e. “MARINES”.
This is because, for the most part, the only part of the Mexican government that hasn’t been co-opted by the cartels is the Mexican navy.
