Moran, a 59-year-old teacher at Mason Clark Middle School, made the statement on May 9 to another teacher, saying he “ought to bring a gun to school and shoot them all in the name of God.” He was allegedly referring to the students. [More]
I’d be interested to know what triggered him.
I’m also wondering how strongly I’d fight a proposal to add Democrat public school teachers to the “prohibited persons” list…

Do that and they’ll be damned few teachers to arm.
19USC246: ” The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and… under 45 years of age”
Seventeen is high school juniors.
Schools receiving even a penny of public funding should have as their mission preparing their students to be independent citizens capable of exercising their rights and responsibilities. This includes membership in the unorganized militia.
Teachers should be held up as model citizens. Although females are not included in the militia, female and male teachers should all be capable of acting in defense of themselves, their families, and the students under their care.
Going about armed should be REQUIRED for all public teachers, as well as training for classroom defense.
Teaching students that they are responsible for and trusted with defending themselves and their communities would go a long way towards short-circuiting the kind of alienation that results in school shooters.
(I believe females should be members of the unorganized militia by default, just like males. Female auxiliaries might be established for the organized militias, but women should not be ordered into battle. This restriction recognizes their vital and irreplaceable biological role, and is not any indicator of their inadequacy for service. They and their children are at the core of what the militia protects.)
