You’re old enough to remember HCI’s “One Million Strong” campaign. They even put the motto on their letterhead. Then NRA sued HCI to file a “mandatory” governent report that they had been avoiding, and it became obvious they were counting people who (like you) just wrote in for more information. Their actual membership was between 150,000 and 250,000, at a time when the NRA’s was topping 3M.
