Interesting that the “undocumented immigrant in possession of a firearm” conviction carries a longer prison term than the first-degree involuntary manslaughter conviction.
On an unrelated-but-more-relevant note, his visa expired 15 years ago, his application to extend it — which presumably had his current address and employer information — was rejected, and he was still here?
This reminds me of a joke from back in the 90s and early 00s: You hear about all these immigrants who stay in the U.S. on expired visas, raising families and working illegally, sometimes for years or even decades. Contrast with Blockbuster*; if you’re two days late returning your rental, those people are all over you. Let’s put Blockbuster in charge of immigration!
