What they mean is, X changed the water pistol emoji back to a regular gun.
The pistol emoji was there first. Twitter replaced it with the water pistol after MILMs/Karens raised a fuss about it “promoting violence” or something. (Because every mass killer in history was driven to the act by a tiny electronic icon, right?)
