Here It Comes

Mangione had a ghost gun, a type of weapon that can be assembled at home from parts without a serial number, making them difficult to trace, investigators said. [More]

That and the suppressor will overshadow that he “raised in Maryland, has ties to San Francisco and a last known address in Honolulu, Hawaii,” Democrat strongholds all.

This is apparently his X feed.

And this appears to be his Facebook.

I’m going to look around before they’re deactivated, and gotta say I’m surprised they haven’t been.

  1. I was watching a NBC news program this afternoon that was interrupted by a “Special News” report. The report described the arrest this morning of Mangione and his possession of a handgun lacking a serial number. This was mostly described as a “ghost” gun except for one talking head referring to the “fake” gun. It was difficult to accept anything seriously from the talking head after that display of wisdom.

    1. By one estimate, something like 80% of the world’s stock of firearms are untraceable to the latest owner, whether the firearm has a serial number or not.

So as a practical crime fighting tool, the serial number on a firearm is pretty much useless for tracing a firearm used in a crime. It would likely be a game changer if someone started challenging that aspect of the narrative. There are likely areas of real concern, to the law enforcement and gun control communities, where privately made firearms are concerned, but the presence or absence of a serial number is not one of them.

  2. Judging from his bio I am surprised that he chose the combination of a recoil operated handgun and a suppressor wo/booster. I expect person with advanced degrees in engineering to do a web search for knowledge in reducing the acoustic signature of a hand gun, let alone picking the caliber to use.
P.S. I am a retired electrical engineer with BSEE from UC Berzerkly. I don’t comment about any subject I am not an expert in wo/doing online research. I hate being proven wrong when a little research is all that is required to verify my comment.
1st he would have determined that to get lowest sound signature requires sub sonic ammo. While 9mm is more lethal than 380ACP, 32ACP, 25ACP and 22LR there is only one 9mm Luger loading that is subsonic, 147 grain. Also there are almost no 9mm autos that have blow back or gas or roller delayed blow back actions. Most are recoil operated which requires a “booster” option to cycle. Also all the 80% lowers (“ghost gun” unserialized frame). From the video of the shooting incident the firearm with suppressor wasn’t long enough to have a integral or external booster. That is why he had to manually rack the slide. He would have had to have bought a serialized hand gun to successfully add a suppressor wo/ a booster.

  3. Hopefully his social media has been downloaded and stored before the Feds can scrub and sanitize it to serve their agendas.
