I Can Still Hear You Saying You Would Never Break the Chain

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., is leading a new bill that would shift the American immigration system from a family-based focus, largely ending chain migration and prioritizing immigrants who serve the “national interest” of the U.S. [More]

After all, per three Preamble, the while point of consenting to government is because it is directed “to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity,” not themselves and their posterity. But I don’t suppose one of the qualifiers will be support for the whole Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment…?

No matter: My bet is it’ll have the same 3% prognosis as his bill requiring financial institutions to verify the lawful immigration status of applicants, and if it ever did pass it’d be subjected to years of legal setbacks.

Funny, how according to some, my first three posts today have nothing to do with that “single issue.”

  1. Ogles filed a bill to “require financial institutions to verify the lawful immigration status of applicants” ?
Who knew one could do business absent such verification?
A financial entity I’ve deal with for about 40 years has advised me it will not provide me my account info as it does not (after all this time happily taking my filthy lucre) have my ssn on file. I may have just been rendered a non-person while assorted irregular and unverified persons wheel and deal unfettered.
Hell, it’s Friday, a bright sunshiny day, and there’s a bottle of Kentucky’s finest on the shelf.
As for his immigration time waster, it all comes down to who decides on the “national interest”, doesn’t it?
