Woke up to over 40 emails from WordFence with the same brute force attack alert:
A user with IP address 85.203.23.21 has been locked out from signing in or using the password recovery form for the following reason: Exceeded the maximum number of login failures which is: 20. The last username they tried to sign in with was: ‘admin’.
The duration of the lockout is 4 hours.

Somebody wants in. Or somebody’s “robot.” And who knows if it’s really Singapore or just a proxy bouncing things around?
Combine that with recurring shared server issues leading to “Too many requests” 429 errors, and suppresive Google algorithms and social media “community standards” disallowing links, and I’m starting to think this “gunblogging” business may not be the lucrative royal road to Easy Street everybody thinks it is– especially since I don’t generate any revenue on this blog and don’t ask for or accept donations (hence my money back guarantee in the sidebar and the reason why I don’t pony up for a private server or hire a professional to free me to just do my thing).
And it’s not like the big Second Amendment groups are interested in promoting someone who criticizes them when they deserve it, which is often.
Thing is, I’ll remain green at this. I don’t (and won’t) get too deep into the technical aspects because I just don’t have time to learn how to be a competent site administrator– that’s not why I spend so much time doing what I do, and I just don’t have time for more. That and I have a life.
So, I don’t have any solutions to the site issues– just saw the latest set of warnings and thought I’d share some of what goes on behind the scenes with those of you who might be under the impression that the two-fisted, lucrative, fun-filled world of 2A agitation is just an endless succession of incentives and rewards.
