  1. Back in the 80s I helped a friend move to NYC. Manhattan somewhere, I think. He said, “You dont need to lock your car. This is a safe block.” There were no derelicts, or much graffitti, or even much litter, & no cops were anywhere to be seen. The NYC chapter of the Hell’s Angels was across the street.

    Imagine that.
