I’m remembering an incident from back in the 1960s when “transparency” cost someone his job. It seems the the Agriculture Commissioner in Mendocino County (CA) is required to generate an annual report on agriculture’s contribution to the county’s GDP.
One year the Commissioner decided to “fess up” and admit that illegal pot was the county’s biggest cash crop by including estimated proceeds of that facet of agriculture in the report.
