So, we who have never owned slaves, are expected to pay so called reparations, to people who were never slaves? That makes about as much sense as putting a rubber on a gelded horse!
On one hand, people who never owned slaves paying “reparations” to people who never were slaves makes zero sense.
On the other hand, part of me says let’s do it. Once. And then make it a blacklist-able federal hate crime to bring it up again.
The old people can retire on it (or if they lived wisely and have their retirement funded, put it in a trust for their posterity), the young people can get education and work opportunities, the people in the middle can invest or start businesses.
Or they can piddle it away and end with nothing (like so many other lottery winners). Their choice, but it will never happen again, so choose wisely.
Either way, we never have to hear the word “reparations” in this context again.
