A Kempsville High School assistant principal and his brother are facing charges stemming from an alleged conversation they had about threatening to hurt ICE agents for “kidnapping individuals” and a possible meeting with other like-minded individuals to discuss “ideas and plans,” according to a criminal complaint. This is what parent entrust their children to?
He also said he recently bought an assault rifle, the complaint states, because “it utilizes the explosive rounds that are needed to penetrate the vests.”
What?
“it utilizes the explosive rounds that are needed to penetrate the vests.”
Just for a minute consider the level of ignorance displayed in that sentence. And that is from a “near the top of the pile” career educator. And yet he showed himself to be what Red Forman of “That 70s Show” liked to call “a dumbass.” And yet that educator is in a position that you would expect to be filled by one of the beat and brightest in the public education field. The bad news is that he probably is one of their best and brightest.
Just a couple of quick examples. Both of my children were in the “gifted” track in Miami-Dade County’s school system. You would think that those classes would be taught by hand picked educators, and you’d be correct. And yet, my daughter’s second grade teacher sent home a 100 word vocabulary study sheet on which 10% of the words were spelled incorrectly. That same teacher had no student score above 85% on a mid-term exam. In explanation, she said they all got the last 15 questions wrong. Further, they didn’t show their work as required and so did not qualify for partial credit. When we, the parents, dug a little deeper it turned out that she somehow failed to give the students the second page of the exam. She blew it off saying it was graded on a curve anyway so it didn’t matter.
Long story short, their best and brightest are still …
Well, let’s ask Red.
