The Navy version says that when a random shot from HMS Serapis struck the flag halyard on the Bonhomme Richard, Sarapis’ commander yelled to Capt. John Paul Jones “Have you struck?” To which Jones supposedly replied “I have not yet begun to fight!”
The USMC version adds that after hearing Jones’ famous words, a sergeant on the gun deck one level down commented “There’s always some poor bastard that doesn’t get the word!”
Someone should clue the prof in that academia has been socialism’s Trojan Horse since at least the FDR administration.
On a similar note, that “national conversation on curbing gun violence” should start up any day now.
