This is not a new issue. Teddy Roosevelt voiced a similar take on “hyphenated Americans” over a century ago.

Honestly, not sure how I feel about this.
I don’t see why a legal immigrant who becomes a U.S. citizen should then have to apply for travel visas to visit their family in their country of origin as if they were a foreigner.
Being an American citizen IS an honor and a privilege, no question. I just don’t understand why it must be the ONLY honor and privilege.
Because they took an oath renouncing the other and pledging fidelity to the new.
