More Changes to State Policies and New Court Developments After the Bruen Case [More]
MA and CA, not to mention Bloomberg Central, ought to have some wailing and teeth gnashing going on. And this means Bonta is going back to Benitez.
Sometimes The Trace can be useful, even though it’s no secret what they’re rooting for.
The Trace also had this gem, where eight candidates for office in Philadelphia were asked how they would reduce gun violence:

Mark Lavelle (Republican candidate, 177th district):
““Why does an 18-year-old need a gun?” Lavelle said. “The city of Philadelphia is in the state of lawlessness with gun violence.”
Lavelle also supports stricter gun charges for those who are found to possess a gun illegally.”
Similar as to why an 18-year-old needs to vote – that is their right.
Possessing a gun illegally infers that there already law in place that prohibits that act and thus is an admission that the law do not contribute to any changes in behavior. Think of Dean Wormer from “Animal House” and his Double Secret Probation versus Secret Probation or those advocating the raising of fines for speeding motor vehicles. The “state of lawlessness with gun violence” infers that there already is non-compliance with current law. How is enacting another law supposed to correct that?
