Two Georgia men stealing copper wire at an electrical power station died by electrocution and the subsequent force of a transformer explosion… [More]
True, not gun-related, but I do try to keep up with current events…
So it’s all in how they were conducting themselves…?
Vive la résistance?
Sorry…

Your writing is outstanding
…And remember that “spark of divinity” Nanny Nancy talked about…
…That transformer explosion left those guys, well, fundamentally transformed…
…I’m here all week…
Try the veal.
I’m trying desperately to stifle it.
Well, they sure got a “charge” outta life!
how re-VOLT-ing!!!!
Seriously how dumb can two guys be? They should have learned how they were doint it out in rural Colorado. Find a stretch of road “out there” with the high tension powerlines alongside it. Stop anywhere, take out your trusty AR and pop rinds until you sever all three wires, leaving their tails dragging diwn to the ground. Hop back in the car drive a coulple of miles, do it again. Now, knowing bth ends of the isolated length of wire are not connected to anything, coil up that stretch, maybe cutting it into manageable pieces. Sell it for scrap. I haven’t checked in a few months but last I did clean copper was fetching around $7000 (yes I said seven THOUSAND dollars) per ton. A set of three quarter inch diameter solid copper wires about two miles long would fetch enough to go buy a nice late model pickup truck with new tyres on it.
So why don’t we read about this still happening? Simple… the state made such activity a felony, for ne thing, and the comanies owning the wire began to have code numbers rolled into the wire (which is just bare solid wire) Now whenever some clown shows up at the metal buyer, they scale his load, have him head up to the office to get his check, call a hotline which then processes that code number and instantly knows that stretch of wire was stolen two weeks ago and belongs to Ace Power Company. So the thief/customer is advised “this is quite a large order it will take a little while for us to process it. If you could wait right over there……. about five minutes later a pair of coppers show up and arrest the thief slapping the cuffs on him nd giving him a free ride to a place with LOTS of metal everywhere.. grey bars wherever he looks.
WOrd got out pretty quickly that they’ve figured out how to find and arrest the thieves. For some “unknown” reason theft of copper transmission wire suddenly became very uprofitable. Metal buysrs, at least the ones around here, work hard to catch and foil thieves. They’ve all got a pretty sharp eye for what’s hot” and take decisive action. And LE in this area are vigourously dealing with such thefts.
but these Georgia guys…..
in with a whimper out with a BANG
