The sheriff doesn’t think so:

This will continue until the perpetrators have a very high probability of facing a fiing squad as their just reward for such conduct. Hands tied behind their back, no hood, face the line. Let the last thing they see be what their victoms was last. Its only fair…..
call me a heartless barstid if you want. These punks do not value the lives of others, but I’ll lay pretty high stakes at very long odds they value their own. And if they know going in their chances of facing a firing line are ten to one for, they might think a second time before pulling that trigger. And if not, they’ll never have opportunity to do it again.
Such punishment is biblical….. commanded in fact.
Whoever without just cause strike a man that he die, by the hand of man shall HIS blood be shed. That word “shall” is the imperative.. you must do this.
Failure to do so has brought us to this point.
