One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

The new party, called Forward and whose creation was first reported by Reuters, will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey. They hope the party will become a viable alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties that dominate U.S. politics, founding members told Reuters. [More]

Spend that money! I see the greater hit on Democrats afraid of the Bolshevik wing, and I’d say Yang and Whitman are not exactly opposites attracting.

Sounds like they all deserve each other, and on the plus side, once they join, the media will no longer be able to characterize Vichycon talking heads as “conservative.”

  1. I think you’re right. I hope you’re right.

    I do wonder about Never-Trumpers.

    How would George Will vote?

Forward and Green could be very helpful.

    The LP could be hurtful.

  2. Via the FAQ:
“WHAT ARE YOUR SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM GOALS?
This year and next, we’ll be focused on building – that means expanding our infrastructure nationwide and getting communities involved. By the end of 2023, we’ll have ballot access and candidates in races around the country. By the end of 2024, we’ll have organizations in all 50 states and several thousand elected officials. Forward leaders will spend the 2020s and beyond working to repair America’s broken political system.“

Would it be too conspiratorial to label this as the elites’ last-ditch effort to funnel mass disgruntlement into a weaksauce party that gives Dems most of what they want under the cloak of “centrism”?

  3. The late Rush Limbaugh used to tout a book he said would never be written:

    “Great Moderates in American History”

  4. Am acquainted with a couple of members of the third (not named in the link article) group, SAM – Serve America Movement.

Though I never did explore their philosophies beyond a cursory look these are thoughtful individuals who have now likely subsumed their good names and possibilities under the weight of their new ‘allies’.
