Putting a band-aid on a sucking chest wound might make you feel useful, but from a first aid save the victim’s life standpoint you would have accomplished nothing.
Until society as a whole confronts head on the problem of who among us is committing these violent acts and why, no mitigation of the “gun violence” subset is possible.
As a case in point, consider the city of Chicago, IL. If one considers the raw numbers, it seems like the city is a violent place. But if one looks deeper one sees that the violence is not random. It occurs only in certain parts of the city and can sometimes be narrowed down to certain blocks of certain streets.
