But, but….’FL is a 2A state…’
Better idea… avoid crowds.
“We didn’t make the rules,” she said. “But we have to live with them.”
Rules are superseded by laws. Why don’t you feel you have to live with those, Ann Stone?
Look at the example of the Florida State Fair, which is legally not allowed to prohibit firearms but still insists that you go though a metal detector for admission. The penalties of the Florida Preemption Law apply if you are denied admission.
1. Show up anyways, carrying or not. Let them deny you admission and sue if they do.
2. If you are not carrying a firearm but do have a FL CWP, place about 24 ounces of ferrous metal on your within your clothing to set off the metal detector. Do not consent to search of your person but do show your FL CWP. See #1.
This reminds me of the time a conservative judge came to speak at our church about the importance of defending freedom (he was embroiled in a “scandal” at the time regarding his own First Amendment rights to display controversial historical images in his office).
The first thing he did upon addressing the crowd was ask, “How many here have your CHLs?” (Concealed Handgun Licenses) About half the men and a quarter of the ladies raised their hands. He smiled and said, in a genuine, non-sarcastic tone, “Great! I feel safe then.”
I want to see DeSantis as the kind of no-holds-barred governor that just might do something like this; call out the stupid rules and show his support of his constituents’ rights. But I won’t hold my breath.
