The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) today announced it has issued a subpoena to @Magpul , demanding the release of civilian sales data on standard-capacity magazines after the company refused to cooperate voluntarily for over a year. [More]
Where did the press release go, and why?

Did a DoD contract worth $20million have any effect on this?

First thing: How does a non-profit organization have subpoena power? Or is that just poor writing?
Second: Shouldn’t a pro-gun NPO — as NAGR claims to be — be protective of Magpul’s customer privacy, rather than trying to get the records for some unknown purpose?
Finally: Since magazine sales are not regulated — and the magazines themselves can change hands without limit after-the-fact, rendering sales records meaningless — why does NAGR think they need them? (IOW, what is that “unknown purpose”?)
