Neither side wanted a war. Neither side expected a war. But they got one anyway. Both sides were so surprised, that they held inquests to find out just how things had gone so unexpectedly wrong. They never reached any satisfying conclusions, except that that “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” might have been a negligent discharge from one of the Lexington militia man who had spent the predawn hours drinking his breakfast while waiting for the regulars to figure out how to get untangled from the wetlands they were never supposed to be in and find their way to to Lexington.
None of the rioters, National Guardsmen, or US Marines in LA could have a negligent discharge, could they?
I agree with you, there’s a million ways this could go south now.
But what concerns me most, is with America so focused on “precedent” as opposed to text, history and tradition, what comes next? It’s illegal aliens and rioters today, but tomorrow? Will they come after other undesirables, such as the Militia? Or others for “wrong think”? I think most of us are disappointed in Trump for one reason or another, but someday, a Democrat will be in the White House… Dangerous “precedent” is being set here.
And I agree with ‘The Captains Journal’, America no longer believes in the Militia or the Posse. And Codrea’s right too, America no longer believes in itself. We’re no longer a nation, just an economic zone located in the middle of the North American continent.
