    More to the point, that the party supported by more citizens than any other is a “threat to democracy.” That’s literally self-contradictory.

    1. I’m pretty sure it’s a reference to Winston Marshall’s debate speech at the Oxford Union Society, taking the opposition viewpoint on whether populism is a threat to democracy. To whit, “Populism is not a ‘threat to democracy’; populism is democracy.”

      Interestingly, Nancy Pelosi herself was there speaking in favor of the motion — that populism IS a threat to democracy — and kept breaking decorum (and not getting called out for it) by interrupting him from the side … and occasionally making his point for him.
