It sounds like William S. Becker doesn’t think the civil war he’s calling for will reach his doorstep…

It’s curious, dictating that the choice of half the people in the country can’t run, considering his handwringing last week over democracy being in danger.

  1. I hear more and more Democrats calling for the suppression of democracy in order to “save” it. And not only here – we are seeing another example just now in the Irish Republic. It seems that once the Left gets its hands on authority, there is a culture of suppression that comes into play, and this crosses cultural differences and national boundaries. The Left appears to be pushing this to the point of real armed rebellion (not a Jan.6 Capitol walk-through). I don’t think it’s going to play out the way they think it will.

  2. Some people feel that if “it” hasn’t happened in their lifetime, its because “it” can’t happen. In so doing they’re blind to the parallels between the 1760s, the 1850s, and today. In all three cases, those who nominally lead the country have lost touch with those they’re supposedly leading.

In the first two cases, the result was a convulsion of violence such as North America had never experienced before. It remains to be seen if we’ll skate this time.
