It’s a Big Club and Look Who’s In It

Top Goldman Sachs lawyer Kathy Ruemmler will leave the investment bank at the end of June. Her announcement follows the release of documents detailing her often chummy conversations with notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. [More]

She’s the same one who would not allow House Oversight to interview the National Security Council apparatchik who got Phoenix SAC and Gunwalker honcho Bill Newell to send him information.

  1. The thought occurs, a lot of the “scandal” would lose its luster if the people who had any interactions with Epstein would come clean ahead of “revelations” from “the files.”

“Sure, I met Jeff Epstein around 2012, at a conference for corporate investors. I recognized who he was, but all of our conversation was strictly business-related. He did invite myself and my spouse to his island for a weekend, to which we declined. That was the extent of our interactions; I haven’t heard from him since then.”

After that ho-hum announcement, being “named in the files” — especially if the files more-or-less confirm that statement — seems less like “Breaking News” and more like “ancient history.”

Does anyone whose name might appear in the files really think if they just stay quiet, they won’t be “outed”? Much better to get in front of it and address it on your own terms, than to be tried in the court of public opinion after being mentioned.
