Who in their right mind could find fault with that?
The fault comes into play when you try to prevent something without properly identifying the cause.
“Gun violence”, in fact all violence, is committed by violent people. If you’re not willing to control those violent people, any move to control the tools they use in committing violence, would be no more successful than p!ssing into the wind.
How many iterations have they gone through with their “assault weapons ban” since the original Roberti-Roos law was passed in 1989? And yet their violent people are still committing “gun violence” with banned “assault weapons.”
