One of the most commonly used tools of the left….and most politicians.
Lies, damn lies and statis.
It’s very simple. The claim is that armed citizens don’t stop mass killings.
Using the FBI UCR definition of “mass killing” — four or more deaths in a single incident — when an attack happens and an armed citizen responds, one of two things will happen. Either the armed citizen will stop the attack before four deaths occur, in which case it doesn’t meet the “mass killing” definition, OR the armed citizen will stop the attack after four deaths occur, in which case it’s still a “mass killing” the armed citizen did not stop.
Yes, it’s twisted logic that completely discounts any and all lives saved by armed citizen intervention, but the antis swear by it because it serves their purpose.
And they’ll still lump suicides-by-firearm into “gun deaths” — and any shooting death at or near a school into “school shootings”, whether or not students or staff were involved — and use the inflated numbers to imply that we have an epidemic of violence. They know the media won’t call them out on it, so why not?
