“GunWalker” rolls on.. but we’ll not talk of arms sold out the Mex military’s back doors.
Another case of “figures don’t lie but liars certainly do figure.”
There is a number associated with guns found at crime scenes in Mexico that are NOT referred to BATFE for tracing. That is, in fact, the overwhelming majority of the firearms recovered. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the folks spinning that 90% number to give you the correct picture.
Just ask yourself, if the Mexican authorities recovered a Soviet made AK47, a Chinese made Type 56, or an Egyptian Maadi (and they do quite often), why in the world would they submit it to a US government agency for tracing?
Next, and perhaps even more inconvenient for those trying to spin an agenda, what fraction of those guns that do trace to the US originally went to Mexico intended for use by their military and law enforcement but were diverted to the cartels by corrupt Mexican officials?
We’re not going to get those correct numbers from those trying to paint the picture of cartel members buying full auto AK47s at a Texas gun show.
