Bring your own bullhorn. Those mikes “flake out” at the damndest moments.
Very true.
I won’t sign up. Given the past interactions I’ve had with Hamlin and other NRA “leaders” I don’t trust myself to be firm yet polite. If they post a rerun of it on Youtube or Rumble, which they should, I’ll watch it.
The most important question is how can the NRA have a EVP/CEO? I’ve never caught that before, and I’ve never heard anyone else raise that point either.
If the board can defy something as great, and crystal clear as the not creating or abolishing x,y,z offices part of the bylaws and have had an EVP/CEO going back to at least WLP that’s huge. Because the EVP/CEO is the one who effectively runs the NRA. The president and two VP’s are only slightly more than ceremonial positions. It’s the EVP/CEO who actually runs NRA HQ.
And if the true leader of the NRA is in fact illegitimate due to his very presence or “office” being in violation of the bylaws, then that violation of the bylaws, renders the entire NRA bylaws moot.
I’ve signed up. I sure hope it is not a complete waste of time.
It is going to be interesting if there will be a free discussion allowed or if this is more of a PR job to just get us to send more money.
We need real change at the NRA. How do you change if you can not admit where you have failed?
In the latest NRA magazine it’s implied there’s a new and improved NRA but nothing about what really failed and how that is being corrected.
I hope CEO Hamlin can bring some clarity to the table and not just more generalities mainly aimed at getting additional donations without clear changes outlined.
Many of us true believers are not blind to the problems the NRA has had and continue to have. I for one will not be giving more money until there are some very real structural changes and not just some window dressing with a few new faces.
Doggone it!
Was in transit and missed the (dog & pony?) show.
Surely NRA’s grandiose puff piece in the email box will fill me in.
Carpe diem
Yes, I was there, asked three questions, none were answered.
What I got out of it was;
Trust us and send money.
Has anything changed? Some of the people. But how can you trust the NRA when many of the people who empowered Wayne are still on the BOD.
76 member BOD is a joke and until they cut it down to size, get rid of the dead weight & corrupt weight, it will continue to be a joke.
There will be no donations from me until they do something about the BOD first. Yes there were some “reform” BOD elected last election but there’s still way too many Wayne weasels on the BOD in my opinion. My question; are the Wayne weasels still the majority on the NRA BOD?
I will continue to support my independent state organization OFF instead of the NRA.
The new and improved NRA 2.0 reminds me of a short joke Shoji Tabuchi told on the old “Hee Haw” show.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoji_Tabuchi
He had become best friend and fishing buddies with another country/western star, Mel Tillis. He “sadly” told that Tillis had stopped taking him fishing because he was always eating the bait (sushi joke).
Then came the punch line: “I used to but I stopped.”
NRA wants us to believe they’ve fixed the problems without ever identifying what the problems were, identifying the guilty parties, or clearly stating what was done to punish them.
Frankly, this Endowment Member needs to see and hear more than “I used to but I stopped.”
Instead, we’re getting “Somebody did stuff. We aren’t going to tell you who or what or what was done to fix the issues. But you can trust us. We fixed it.”
Speaking of jokes: “You can trust me! I’ll just put it in a little bit and you’ll still be a virgin!” — Carlos Mencia.
Note to NRA 2.0. Some of your former members are not nearly as dumb as you seem to think. They, and their money, are not coming back until you get serious about “fessin’ up”. A “smoke and mirrors” Jimmy Swaggart style fingers crossed behind the back tearful confession followed by getting caught yet again will put a future “This time we’re really, really sorry” NRA 3.0 dead in the water before launch.

You have one chance. This is it. And you’re well on your way to blowing it already.
Good analysis. It boiled down to “Trust us. Send money.” Not impressed and I don’t know who would be.
And I still wanna know where “CEO” came from.
