  1. Reagan was probably right, an AK47 is not needed for home defense. But that’s irrelevant to the discussion of the role of the government and the role of the people where RKBA is concerned.

This part of an ongoing attempt to steer the argument over RKBA and the purpose of the Second Amendment away from the core principles is an attempt by many folks to avoid discussing them.

A well regulated militia is a body of citizens/soldiers in the original sense of the phrase. They are drawn from the citizenry at large. They are self led by people they elect from within their own ranks. They are self armed and self provisioned and capable of taking to the field to protect themselves, their families, and their communities from various threats including overreach by their own government(s) that might attempt to suppress their rights.

Now ask yourself, all foolishness about ducks, kevlar wearing deer, AK47s, and cannons aside. Does it make any sense for the government to be able to decide what the well regulated militia may possess to protect itself, and the people at large, from that same government?
