And not the edible or Monty Python kind…
I’m being overrun with the stuff. It’s taking time I don’t have to moderate and relegate it to “Trash.” And it’s getting worse– the image here shows what just came in overnight, and each one had to be individually rejected.
It’s not a question of requiring email addresses or links from posters — the point of the spammers is to share those. Because those fields are filled, I question if these are being done by robots and if CAPTCHA would help. There’s also a filter for “Comment author must have a previously approved comment,” but I don’t see how that will save me from having to still manually moderate the bad stuff out.
For now, I have designated certain recurring keywords to automatically assign comments to trash so I don’t need to deal with them:
Maxiproxies
Proxies
Proxy
안성출장안마예약
Networks
Beauty
fashion
hairstyles
I’m sure the list will grow, and the thought strikes to list them so legit readers can avoid using them and getting auto-ejected. If that doesn’t work, I may need to suspend outside inputs altogether until I get it figured out.
I said at the start I’ll never be a “webmaster” and my goal here is to do my thing with as little tech knowledge as I can get away with. If you have experience with this on WordPress and can explain it to a slow learner with ADD whose head hurts easily, I’m all ears.
If you’re not running the Akismet Anti-Spam plugin (which I believe is free), it may solve your problem.
