Fool Me Once…

Republicans, take heed. Not every gun owner voice out there is a “Next Best Win” apologist, and you need all of us if you’re not going to blow the midterms, which may be a done deal after this.

But won’t that mean the Democrats will gain the power to take our guns?

Does it?

Flesh out what that would look like and we can start looking at likely responses, flash points, and potentialities.

Unsuppressed Enthusiasm

I note the announcement does not include the SHORT Act being included in the House version. I’ve heard some stuff about that I may be sharing in a few days if I can confirm.

What will the Senate do? Gut feel: A critical mass of Dems love our money more than they our hate guns. And let’s not let this potential “win” on guns blind us to the existential dangers of out of control government spending to advance powers nowhere delegated.

Looks like I may have been wrong for being so negative about HPA’s chances.

Hey… does this mean I can dig up the Chore Boy…?

Silencing Critics

Deleted the tweet calling @Silencercentral liars but leaving my reply to them as it still begs some questions. [More]

That’s a common misuse of the term, but we get the meaning.

This and denials by Cox and Kustoff highlight the importance of making sure of your target before touching the trigger. I’d guess the only reasons there haven’t been lawsuits is because they wouldn’t be worth it in terms of further alienation and deep enough pockets.

I haven’t said much about this whole recent suppressor flap other than I just don’t get why so many prominent 2A community voices are getting everybody excited over what the committee does when they know a bill will never reach the president’s desk. And these are the same “gun rights leaders” who have remained dead silent about the “pro-gun” Trump administration’s DOJ arguing that banning machineguns doesn’t violate the Second Amendment.

A Matter of Priorities

I Ask GOA Where They Stand On Machine Guns…my comment’s been given a “Medium” priority. [More]

Right. High priority is getting everyone excited about bills in committee that will never make it to the president’s desk.

I miss Larry’s leadership.

Stalled 2A Bills Need Your Support [More]

Say everybody floods the switchboards and the bills make it out of committee. Then what?

I see the 2A blogosphere and guntubers mobilizing on this while actual doable priorities remain ignored and mostly unknown. I’d say at least it will help flush out committee RINOs, but then have to ask what gun owners will do about it, because they all seem to flourish with impunity.

But far be it for the “no compromise gun lobby” to notice this.

Nothin’ at this writing…

I miss Larry’s leadership.

Pander Much?

U.S. Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) led a group of 25 additional Senate colleagues in reintroducing the Hearing Protection Act (HPA). The HPA, S. 401, would reclassify suppressors to regulate them like a regular firearm. The measure would benefit Idaho’s recreational gun users and provide them better access to hearing protection equipment. [More]

Why? Where were you guys when you were the majority?
