Charges were not filed because a self defense claim “might” be filed, not as a result of one actually being filed. We saw the same sort of thing happening in Florida after that state’s “stand your ground” and “castle doctrine” laws were adopted. It turned out that prosecutors were declining to do their jobs as a method of protesting laws that they did not agree with.
