The Reports of My Death are Greatly Exaggerated?

This may not be true: It was also reported that this was “fake news” based on a hack of his facebook page. So … mostly we don’t know. [More]

Who is “reporting” that?

I’ve long been a big one for cautioning people against passing on rumors and not verifying sources, so if it does turn out to be true, I failed to follow my own advice. All I can say is my mind is not set up to expect the kind of sickness that would get off on doing something like this, and in this day and age, I guess that’s yet another failure on my part.

In defense of those of us who weighed, there is this, from Gun.com and Daily Caller via AOL News:

That last one is by Harold Hutchison, who was consulting senior editor at SOF from 2007 to 2016 and presumably ought to know.

That leads to the other possibility: What kind of sick f_ would start a rumor that the death announcement was a hoax?

I suppose I could try and clear things up by emailing Col. Brown’s address, but why pester a family that made no announcement in August to ask them to clear up a toxic internet spill?

I’m going with the initial report is true and rumors of a hoax are just trolling until someone proves otherwise.
