Thumbs Down on Activism

Too bad, because it’s a knee-jerk assessment on a great comment I agree with, and represents the kind of self-motivated activism I wish more readers would take on themselves to engage in. Otherwise what’s the point of reading the article?

It’s disappointing but hardly surprising. Grudges and squabbles appear to take precedence over unity in purpose and shoulders to the wheel, and that’s got to be encouraging to the antis.

It’s fair to wonder how many of the down-voters — who would be big potential beneficiaries if they helped instead of harassed — spent even so much as the second it took them to click a thumbs down on promoting the Earle-Sears campaign and telling NRA and Trump to get off the stick.

And that’s why I don’t think Trump finally-kinda-sorta coming on board was due to “2A supporters tagging him on X about Virginia.” Nobody has been writing about this but me, and I can tell you from the lack of comments and shares I’ve seen, this has been one of the biggest echo chamber pieces I’ve ever written.

(And yeah, I see comment links don’t scroll you to the exact one and nothin’ I can do about that, but the ones I’m citing are easy enough to find.)

  1. There’s been a lot of history between some of the folks involved. A lot of water under that bridge. In some cases they’d down vote each other if it was declared that water is wet. It takes two to tango and I’m really not the one to sort it all out. But my belief is that RKBA issues are no longer the main issue stirring that particular pot.

    1. True dat. For some reason I’m envisioning a fistfight breaking out between band members over which piece to play as the Titanic sinks.

That said, a preponderance of facts and a preponderance of insults can be ascertained, especially among the more recent posts.

      1. Don’t need to go that far back.

Ginger Baker knew he was the best drummer that ever lived and got into it with anyone who didn’t agree. Jack Bruce didn’t agree or at least didn’t act like it when Baker was around. Bruce once, in the middle of a gig, used his base guitar like an axe to destroy Baker’s drum kit. During another gig, Baker thought Bruce was playing his base line as if to mock Baker’s drum part, pulled a knife and went over his drum kit after Bruce. They had hated each other for years and in several groups together before, miracle of miracles, they formed, with Eric Clapton, the first so called super group: “Cream.” Three years and four hit albums later, including the first double album to go platinum, and they imploded not to play together in person for nearly four decades.

Then this. Perhaps the best live concert ever performed.

On that particular topic, don’t let the lack of feedback make you believe you’re not having an impact. You know that a ton of folks come back to read what you write on a regular basis, yet few comment.

This is not a “call and response” kinda crowd.

    1. I think you’re wrong. But I hope I get proven wrong in the end. People reading simply isn’t enough. Knowledge is only power if those who have it put it to use. And Codrea’s right about the apathetic gun owner, and about the apathy with this subject especially, nobody’s doing anything. If I hadn’t read his articles on Ammoland, and his posts here, I’d have never heard about Fusaro’s plan and NRA/Trump inaction etc. I don’t see people, or the “professionals” talking about it on other sites, or on X. Given the lack of action, on second thought I agree with Codrea, Trump’s kinda sorta maybe endorsement can’t be due to tagging on X, as no one’s tagging him.

The left gets what the left wants, because they take action. Meanwhile, we, the 2A movement, cry, whine, and holler at our tv’s, computers, and at each other. And then we wonder why we lose. If we don’t go on political offense aka ACT, our cause will never prevail.
