$10K fines and the taxpayers pay the rest just adds to my dilemma.

Tue jury did NOT fine the Vegas PD. They fined the taxpayers of Las Vegas and Nevada. The two detectives involved, retired now, MIGHT have to pay $10,000 a piece. Even that is unlikely.
It has always been thus.
But that’s one reason why Florida’s firearm preemption statute is such a refreshing contrast. Pols who violate it are subject to being fired by the governor and paying any fines out of their own pockets.
Kinda get’s their attention.
