We’re the Only Ones Naked Eying Enough

A former Florissant police officer appeared in federal court on Tuesday and admitted unlawfully searching the cell phones of women for nude photos during traffic stops. [More]

That he actually found some shows how sheltered my life is. Then again, handing their phone over is a pretty good indicator of judgment.

  1. Don’t forget, some people think having their driver’s licenses and proof of insurance on their phones is just the greatest thing. “Sure, officer, here’s my unlocked phone.”

If you have nudie pics on your phone, well, that’s beyond stupid.

  2. Nobody is taught anymore what information the officer is — and more relevantly, is not — entitled to during a traffic stop.

Driver’s license, registration, proof of insurance. That’s it. You’re not required to answer questions, let them search your vehicle, person, or effects (including your phone),

Anything more than license, registration, and insurance, is — at best — giving them the opportunity to gather your personal information for their own purposes, and at worst helping them in a fishing expedition for evidence of more serious crimes.

The only way to win is not to play. (Thank you, JOSHUA.)
