A Dose of Reality

[T]he last thing we want, the last thing we in the Second Amendment community want, as I see it, is for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, or for any circuit for that matter, to come out right now, now at least, and say that machine guns are protected under the Second Amendment… We do not want that next case going to the Supreme Court involving machine guns. [More]

We will never get an unequivocal “shall not be infringed” unless and until there is a credible “or else” attached to the demand.

  1. “How many divisions does the Pope have?” — Joseph Stalin

Stalin didn’t have any reason to care what the Pope thought because the Pope had no way to back up his displeasure.

Look closely, and you’ll see that the Left, including Leftist leaning courts, have a habit of ignoring what SCOTUS says when and if it suits them. In a system of rules based order, the Left makes a habit of breaking the rules. Where did the supposed 20,o00 infringements come from? Certainly the “Good Infringement Fairy” didn’t bring them!. The Left did, Second Amendment prohibitions be damned. And SCOTUS went right along with it for most of the last 250 years! And they frequently get away with it.

So seriously, knife to a gun fight and all that, why do we care what SCOTUS rules? Why can’t we just do what the Left has shown us how to do for oh, say, 250 years, and ignore SCOTUS?

After all, how many divisions does SCOTUS have?

    1. SCOTUS doesn’t have any divisions, true. But the Left has all of them. In the past 60 years, the Weather Underground Left has taken over the government, government bureaucracy, the legal system, the media, the education establishment, the unions, the churches, and the corporations. THEY can get away with whatever they want. And they can unleash the full might of the system to crush US under the tank tread of the Almighty State if we violate their diktats, no matter how right we may be.

  2. This is all so much silliness – “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” -MacBeth
Most, if not all, gun control laws and firearms licensing schemes are unconstitutional. The Federal government and local governments are not empowered to pass legislation that is contrary to the Constitution. Those that do are conspiring to violate our civil rights on a massive scale. There is constitutional Federal law that defines this conspiracy and the penalties (18 U.S. Code 241).
It is time for the DOJ to acknowledge this and act appropriately. The reality of this is ugly, the resolution may be painful and disruptive to some, but the civil rights violations must end.
