  1. Analogy aside, I don’t see how this is a surprise to people. Cows are bigger than most wild prey, beef cows are particularly bred for meat production (not survival) and then raised with plenty of food, the have fewer natural defenses or defensive instincts (also bred out), and there are literal tons of them conveniently located in one easy-to-access place. Why wouldn’t wolves choose the easier option?

    The headline is the equivalent of “California humans are eating much more store-bought food than wild foragings, study finds.”
