An unintended consequence of the final version of the various “motor voter” laws that finally made it to President Clinton’s desk and was signed into law.
Or was it all that unintended?
Either way, under current Federal law, a non-citizen applying for a driver’s license is a single checked or unchecked box away from becoming a registered voter.
This is the sort of “journalist” report that should be responded to with a reminder that all these same problems were exhaustively documented over a decade ago in Pennsylvania, and instead of writing articles pretending that all this is new information, they should be insisting politicians fix it.
