And Now for Some Totally Unqualified Legal Advice

I just sent an email to a gun owner who approached me about his getting raided by ATF and who is looking for a 2A attorney. I put him in touch with the best one I know and sent him the following unsolicited “legal advice”:

Here’s a bit of legal advice, with the understanding that I am not a lawyer, but I give everyone who approaches me with a legal matter the same counsel:

Clear anything you say to anyone, even me, about this with your attorney first. We may try to help you by writing about your case, but may end up disclosing info your lawyer would rather keep under attorney/client privilege. That includes don’t write it up yourself in emails and on social media, and if you already have, your lawyer will need to know about it.

Once you have retained an attorney, I would be interested in learning more about your case– under the condition of lawyer approval first, of course.

Good luck.

Like the saying goes, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
