So they don’t close. They just stop restocking, transfer their employees to different branches, move all their equipment out, cancel all the utilities, lock the doors, and put signage up saying that due to the recent government shutdowns (or any other reason they choose), they are no longer able to receive shipments.
They’re not “closed”; they’re just “temporarily unavailable” … indefinitely.
Alternatively, they set up tables and chairs and a cot or two, and set themselves up as “local police substations”. They’re not “closed”; they’re just “repurposed”.
Or they can just close. I doubt the courts will require private businesses to remain open and maintain their building leases against their will.
