Closed-Minded

Folks who advocate for legalized guns never seen to take into account the effect that guns have ion others who are not using, like children who are dependents. They never calculate the cost to families, or even the public. The cost of homeless, much of which is due to addiction to guns, imposes a cost not just on users, but on everyone else. Cost of healthcare, housing, crimes committed, etc., due to guns, affect society, not just users. [More]

You convinced me! Where do I turn ’em in?

  1. You know, in addition to never having been to a funeral that was shot up while in progress, or a kids birthday party with a body count, or a family reunion complete with a drive-by shooting, none of my guns have ever just up and shot somebody.

“It just went off!” just doesn’t seem to happen at my house.

May be, in addition to hanging with a dull crowd, there’s something boring about my guns too?

  2. Honestly, I can’t tell if that’s supposed to be satire or not, Poe’s Law being what it is.

It’s a word-swapped set of arguments about legalization of drugs, and it reads like satire. Addiction to guns contributing to homelessness? Come on.

Now swap out “guns” with “cars” for another, more familiar set of satirical arguments. Then try “cigarettes”, “alcoholic beverages”, “bacon”, “red meats”, or any other legal thing some Woke group says is immoral, unethical, or unhealthy. It’s all the same B.S.

Because “[noun] control” is never about the [noun]; it’s about control.

OTOH, there’s always someone who does this sincerely, thinking they’ve hit on a clever, irrefutable argument that nobody has heard before.

  3. What it means to take rights seriously is that one will honor them even when there is significant social cost in doing so.

Kinda off topic, but was that a typo or intentional?

Just kinda reminded me of a college acquaintance who was told that he had a “one track sewer.”
