Though I see Pompeo as a careerist deep state actor who has little regard for we tax serfs, the Iranians are well aware of DJT’s and our political situation.
If the mullahs can keep the game going just a bit longer we’ll be in thrall to them and by extension their friends and allies. And should the mullahs find themselves in extremis and about to fall their final fusillades at their neighbors will give us 10s of millions to feed and provide for. The old ‘you broke it, you own it’ scenario. We of course do not have the wherewithal to feed, clothe, and rebuild for those 10s of millions so holy cow, what now?
