Et Tu, Elon?

“Assault rifles should at minimum require a special permit, where the recipient is extremely well-vetted IMO,” the Tesla CEO replied. Musk reiterated that he supports “tight background checks” for all gun sales… [More]

  1. “… shall not be infringed …” should have been explicit enough.

But since it apparently was not to the wishful thinkers in places like Mordor on the Potomac, SCOTUS has had to flesh it out in smaller words.

    1. RKBA is a personal right, not tied to service in a militia.
    2. The language of 2A extends to the states.
    3. Its likely that very shortly they will rule that the right to “bear” extends beyond the walls of ones home.

What was clear, concise and explicit is now starting to look like something from Dr. Seuss

“I WOULD NOT, COULD NOT IN A TREE.
NOT IN A CAR! YOU LET ME BE.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM IN A BOX.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM WITH A FOX.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM IN A HOUSE.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM WITH A MOUSE.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM HERE OR THERE.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM ANYWHERE.
I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND HAM.
I DO NOT LIKE THEM, SAM-I-AM.”

This sort of being nibbled to death by ducks is one reason why Madison was of the opinion that we needed no Bill of Rights: what the Constitution said was what they meant it to say, no more and no less.

But what he came to realize was that the people then known as “Philadelphia Lawyers” would sense an opportunity to make a buck by obfusticating things out of all semblance of its original purpose.

I’m quite sure “Second Amendment supporters” like Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden would agree.

  2. To be fair to a greatly improving and awakening political persona, Musk did end his comments strongly as reported at the end of The US Sun’s article:

“I strongly believe that the right to bear arms is an important safeguard against potential tyranny of government,” Musk said.

“Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power did not allow public ownership of guns.”

  3. The man’s a genius, but he has zero grounding in guns.
He needs a friend to take him out shooting. His misassumptions will be clear to him within six months.
Nobody who has ever pulled a trigger says the sort of stupid things gun-grabbers say.
