  1. IRS colluding with other alphabet agencies to surveil persons accused of nothing…heaven forfend.

  2. Agents who “think” like this re most likely projecting, and should be investigated themselves. I can think of several ways a guy with little to no “visible income” can and does afford to purchase what is important to him.
    Maybe the guy had been restoring a classic car over years, finally got it done and sold it. Legit non-reportable income. Spent it on the next thing he wanted.

    I have flipped cars for decades and made considerable money at it. Under five per year, not reportable to the state, and then they only care whether I am a “car dealer” from whom they’ve not yet managed to cadge ther exhorbitant fees for bribing them for “permission” to sell such items in quantity .

  3. The article mentions only one source for the income data, and that is a state taxation agency. Somebody’s AG needs to get involved.
